Sights and Scents of June

“It is the month of June, The month of leaves and roses, When pleasant sights salute the eyes and pleasant scents the noses.” -Nathaniel Parker Willis Happy June! Yesterday I saw a doe and fawn in the woods by the creek near my home.  I watched them for a short time and saw the fawn’s…

Connected With Nature

“Your deepest roots are in nature.  No matter who you are, where you live, or what kind of life you lead, you remain irrevocably linked with the rest of creation.”  –Charles Cook

Woodland Wildflowers

I’m enjoying some really pretty native wildflowers blooming by the woods near my house. I didn’t plant these and I’m so happy they grow here.  They’re everywhere.  Have a wonderful weekend : )

Remove Faded Flowers

Remember to remove faded flowers from your plants so they keep blooming easily. I find it relaxing to do all spring and summer long.  In the fall, I leave the seeds for wildlife.

“Gardening adds years to your life and life to your years.” -Unknown This is the prettiest display of flowers in our garden.  We look forward to it every year! I met one of the residents… “When the world wearies and society fails to satisfy, there is always the garden.” -Minnie Aumonier

Wildflower Walk – May 26, 2020

This is at the wood frog trail which has become our new place to walk.  It’s not as busy here as other places, so it’s a great way to stay safe right now.  I’m happy to spend more time here. I wish everyone happiness and to be free of suffering. : )

Paw Warmer

Over the winter, Betty Boop discovered that the router is warm and she sits on it to warm her paws.  Cute overload! : )

Growing Lettuce

I started growing lettuce greens a few years ago from seeds.  My favorite and easiest to grow from seed is salad bowl lettuce.  I also like to pick up a lettuce mix of plants already started. Since homegrown greens have more nutrients and no preservatives compared to store bought greens, I’m going to grow more…
